Visa Enables Crypto Withdrawals on Debit Cards in 145 Countries

MetaMask users can now sell crypto directly to a Visa card, eliminating the need for centralized exchanges.

Visa is enhancing cryptocurrency adoption by enabling a new method to convert crypto to fiat currencies without using centralized exchanges. In partnership with Web3 infrastructure provider Transak, Visa has introduced cryptocurrency withdrawals and payments through Visa Direct.

This integration allows users to withdraw cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, directly from wallets like MetaMask to a Visa debit card. This feature is available immediately, enabling users to exchange crypto for fiat and pay at 130 million merchant locations that accept Visa.

“By enabling real-time card withdrawals through Visa Direct, Transak is delivering a faster, simpler, and more connected experience for its users,” said Visa Direct’s North America Head Yanilsa Gonzalez-Ore. This partnership allows users from 145 countries to convert over 40 cryptocurrencies to fiat without relying on centralized exchanges. Supported countries include Cyprus, Malta, Singapore, Turkey, Portugal, and the UAE.

“This is a major step towards mainstream acceptance and utilization of cryptocurrencies,” noted Transak’s marketing head Harshit Gangwar. The integration benefits users of decentralized platforms and wallets like MetaMask, enhancing the usability of their digital assets.
