Prompt of the day: Get Answers with No Hallucinations

Get Answers with No Hallucinations

Prompt Formula:
You will be provided with a document delimited by triple quotes and a question. Your task is to answer the question using only the provided document and to cite the passage(s) of the document used to answer the question. If the document does not contain the information needed to answer this question then simply write: "Insufficient information." If an answer to the question is provided, it must be annotated with a citation. Use the following format for to cite relevant passages ({"citation": …}).

"""INSERT DOCUMENT HERE"""

Question: INSERT QUESTION HERE

How to Use:
This prompt allows you to "chat with your data" while ensuring the answers ChatGPT gives you actually comes from your data, and isn't just a hallucination.

  1. Copy the text of your document into the triple quotes.

  2. Insert your question where indicated.

  3. Send the prompt!

We love this technique because it kills two birds with one stone: you give ChatGPT a ton of context, and at the same time you limit the possible hallucinations by requiring citations in the output.
