TikTok Usage Surges Among US Adults.

A recent survey from Pew Research Center reveals a notable surge in TikTok usage among US adults, reaching one-third of respondents, up from 21% in 2021. While other platforms like YouTube and Facebook boast higher overall usage, TikTok stands out as a unanimous favorite.

Key Findings:

  1. Age Fragmentation: Social media usage varies significantly by age. For instance, 78% of 18- to 29-year-olds use Instagram, compared to 15% of those aged 65 and older. YouTube and Facebook remain popular across all age groups.

  2. Race and Gender Impact: TikTok usage differs across race and gender lines, with 49% of Hispanic adults using TikTok compared to 28% of white respondents. Notably, women are more likely to use TikTok, constituting 40% of users compared to 25% of men.

  3. Class Divide: Social media usage also diverges based on class, with almost one in three adults earning at least a $100,000 annual household income reporting TikTok usage, in contrast to one in five among lower-income households.

  4. Constant Connectivity: A separate study on mobile and broadband use indicates that 62% of 18- to 29-year-olds are "constantly online," showcasing a shift in today's connectedness compared to the early 2000s.

In summary, TikTok's increasing popularity is a common thread among US adults, transcending demographic differences.
